The Music and Sacred Arts Ministry is one of the vital ministries in the church as we are Judah (“The Praise”). The Scriptures tell us to sing praises, speak praises, declare praise among the people, and to praise with instruments, lifting of hands, clapping, banners, shouting, and dance (Ps. 9:11; 9:14; 33:2; 63:4; 47:1; 20:5; 27:6; 150:4). And that is what the Music and Sacred Arts Ministry is committed to do.
We are blessed that our ministry is very diverse in ages, talents and gifting’s. Our Children’s Choir under the direction of Sisters’ Trudy Carter & Tameka Meeks work weekly with our children ranging from 3 to 12 years of age, equipping them with the necessary tools to worship and praise God in their youth. Bringing a more contemporary sound to the Temple yet holding true to it all bringing glory to God. Our Sanctuary Choir ranges from the early 20’s to the 80’s in age. And because we know and understand what our assignment is, we sing and minister together without allowing age to be a barrier in tearing down spiritual strongholds thru song during the worship service. Our traditional yet soulful sound ushers in an anointing even in our rehearsals. Our Men’s Choir under the direction of Elder Melvin Golder and Brother Gerald “Peppy” Smith have come from just a 5 man group to the numbers up in the 20’s. Our Simply Divine dance ministry, under the direction of Sister Tonia Kenny range from the age of 3 to adult. They are a wonderful addition to our worship services. We are blessed with a full team of accomplished musicians, Brother Gerald Smith, Brother Stefan Ragland, Brother Robert Jones, Brother Harry Goodloe, Brother Edwin Carter and Brother Sonny Kenny lead by Suffragan Bishop Jeffery A. Brandon who all play skillfully under the anointing of the Holy Ghost. Minister Michael Finnell and Evangelist Sherra Hunt are also directors who are gifted and anointed and assist in leading the ministry.
We have been able to minister at the Indianapolis Marion County Jail, Assisted Living Facilities, and Women’s Shelters and in churches all over the state of Indiana and abroad. Our Sacred Arts department has put on many services for Black History Month, Dr. Martin Luther King birthday and an annual Palm Sunday service as well as Music Ministry Workshops. We invite you to come and join us if your passion and talent is singing and watch God continue to work.
