The Usher Ministry Auxiliary is a branch of Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Assembly.
The ministry’s objective to advance spiritually, to promote an effective program of ushering, and to further our knowledge and skills of working during services of worship. The Christ Temple Usher Ministry mission is to render service unto God and his people in the house of the Lord. To edify the ministry of the Usher Ministry by promoting the ministry within the church and carrying out the duties of an Usher.
Ushers ensure that an atmosphere of worship, reverence, and order is maintained within the Church before, during, and after all services. Ushering responsibilities include presenting a friendly demeanor at all times, creating a spirit of worship, ushering the saints and visitors to their seats, assist with the offering, provide direction, information, programs, fans, and tithing/offering envelopes. This is done unto the Lord as a servant of God and it is an awesome role. What ushers do, they do not “as unto men, but unto God.” The ushers’ role is as a representative of the church to all the saints, visitors and friends who come to worship. Visitors receive their first impression of the church from the ushers. This first impression may be the deciding factor in a visitor becoming a regular worshiper, causing him/her to go elsewhere, or losing a soul to Christ.
The Ushers motto is…“Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Col. 3: 23, 24.
The Usher Ministry has multiple usher groups that are assigned to usher on a specific Sunday. The adult usher group allows us to work as one body on specific occasions or work in teams with the sisters on one Sunday and the brothers on another. We have our young ushers from the ages of 8 – 17 who are assigned a specific Sunday. Our young usher group must be a member of the Sunday school department and attend, but are not required to be saved. The usher group holds regularly scheduled usher meetings on a routine basis for instruction, training, planning, and prayer before a service. We have individualized or group training available to train our ushers. We hold a special Usher Ministry service on an annual basis, sponsor dinners and events and complete other fund raisers throughout the year.
Anyone interested in this Ministry is encouraged to contact the Church office and feel free to attend any of our scheduled meetings.
